XBox 360 Repair Guides for the 3 Red Rings

I didn’t even know there was a term for the trouble I had last night with my XBox 360. All of a sudden while playing BurnOut Paradise it froze up and I had 3 red rings around the power button. After hitting the power button countless times and unplugging it, I had to turn to trusty Google to see if anyone else had this problem.

Turns out that this is a common problem and there is an easy fix.

I got a guide called XBox 360 3 Red Lights Fix. Not only did it help me fix the problem but it is very useful information to have in general. I was impressed and now I’m on to playing Grand Theft Auto IV like everyone else.

Internal Bluetooth Hacks for iPod Touch

Recently we have started to receive many requests on hacks for the iPod Touch. Since we are not so called ‘hackers’ for this device we thought it would be nice to do the next best thing and to at least research the idea. So we found some videos that show Bluetooth hacks for your iPod.

Preparing the Bluetooth Module

There have been a lot of questions regarding the type of Bluetooth module used in this mod. Just about any universal module will work, some will be easier than others to wire up. Don’t use a dock-based module, finding the correct connections in it will be extremely difficult.

Unlike my 4th Gen BT hack, here I used an older module from Billionton mainly due to its small size. Another difference between the two is that in the Jabra and others like it, you will need to either pair it before you close up the case or allow for a way to access the module’s switch.

Prepare the BT module as shown and solder the power and audio terminals to the appropriate locations on the ipod. If you want a status LED, you’ll want to solder leads to the SMT LED pads so that you can route your LED to the frame.

Who Invented the iPod? Apple? Think again!

FadellDo you think the iPod was invented by Apple? Of course not that would be too easy right? Well we had the same question so we did some reasearch about the invention and here is what we came up with.

The iPod originated with a business idea dreamed up by Tony Fadell, an independent inventor. The original idea was to take a MP3 player, build in an iTunes like compontent, and build a company around that model. Word got out and Apple hired Fadell in early 2001 and assigned him a team of about 30 people, which included a solid marketing and research team.

Thus the Invention: iPod in 2001

Function: noun / trademark / Internet Pod (Apple)
Definition: A portable device for downloading audio/video from the internet iTunes Web site Manufactured by Apple Computer, inc.
Patent: 7,054,981 (US) issued May 30, 2006
Inventor: Tony Fadell

Criteria: First to invent. First practical.
Birth: 1969

Nationality: American

In truth, there isn’t just one person that can be credited as the actual “inventor” of the iPod. It took many individuals and groups to end up with the finished product.

Other with some credit:

At the top of the list is of course Steve Jobs. Jobs was looking for ways to push his Macintosh computers, since he has always lacked market share compared to PC computers.

Jon Rubenstein did a lot of the research to see if such a device would work in the marketplace, obviously there was.

Jonathan Ive has credits for being the lead designer. Where his team came up with the final concept.

So, who invented the iPod? After all is said and done just think Apple.

Zune 2.5 Software offers TV Show Downloads

Zune 2.5 SoftwareThe Zune 2.5 software update promises those that favor zune over itunes much anticipation. The main additions are:

- Zune Card integration
-TV show downloads on the Zune Marketplace

Other awaited updates are:

- gapless playback
- improved syncing controls
- meta data editing
- auto playlists

Subscribers will particularly benefit from the new Zune Card sharing, which lets you automatically score copies of your pals’ favorite songs, artists and recent plays — non-subscribers can view that Zune Card info, but will have to buy the tracks if they want to have a listen. The Zune Video store is only adding TV shows at this point, no movies yet, and there’s no way to pull video you’ve bought on your 360 over to your Zune, but I’m sure this is coming

The 2.5 Update is a free download and you will be able to download it in the very near future.

Red Zune 80Looks like the limited edition Red Zune 80 will still be available at zune originals. Originally the Red Zune 80 was only going to be available with engraving only, but the zuneoriginals.com site will let you have it without the engraving, which will save you $10 or so.

So if you are really wanting a Red Zune 80 better get it while you can.
