Why iPhone 3G Unlocking Methods Are Not So Easy
October 30, 2008
Unlocking the iPhone 3G is not as easy as unlocking the original iPhone. Apple has heavily cracked down on their firmware, and has made it incredibly difficult for anyone to unlock the iPhone 3G. Newer products will probably be the same way, so for now hackers are struggling to find effective unlocking methods.
Apple made sure that the 3G would have a completely different firmware that would be tough to unlock. Apple wanted to crack down on unlocking, because when people unlock one of their phones apple loses a considerable amount of cash. So many people have different opinions about the apple iPhone 3G unlocking.
The SIM cards associated with the iPhone 3G are easily exchanged for a different one, but finding the right SIM cards are difficult. After you switch out the SIM cards you will able to use it under a different service provider but it can be another task trying to find a service provider to activate an unlocked phone.
The iPhone 3G has many unavailable uses that Apple did not want it to be used for. However, many hackers have found ways to utilize those features. Many people mess with the coding in the firmware directly, but this poses a risk for phone failure.
The fees associated for having the iPhone 3G freedoms are ridiculously high. Many people are charging hundreds, and its difficult to find someone to do this without ripping you off entirely. Citizens that are dedicated to working on the iPhone 3G unlocking should be appreciated greatly, without them we probably wouldn’t have any of these chances at unlocking the iPhone 3G.
Right now while the iPhone 3G is so new, it will take some time for unlocking methods to grow in strength and function. Hackers suspect that they will eventually get the iPhone 3G to unlock easily and successfully.
